What is QLED, and how is it different from OLED or Mini-LED?

QLED is an LCD TV that uses a quantum-dot layer with an LED backlight. OLED is self-emissive (each pixel lights itself). Mini-LED isn’t a panel type—it's a finer LED backlight that many QLEDs use for better contrast.

Are QLED TVs brighter, and what does that mean for HDR?

Typically yes. QLEDs often reach higher peak brightness and strong color volume, making HDR highlights pop in bright rooms. Black levels depend on local dimming—more zones usually mean less blooming and better contrast.

Do QLEDs suffer burn-in or have viewing-angle limits?

QLEDs generally have no permanent burn-in risk. However, their viewing angles can be narrower than OLED/IPS. If your seating is wide, look for models with enhanced viewing-angle layers or ADS/IPS-type panels.

What should I look for when buying a QLED?

Check 120Hz panels, HDMI 2.1, VRR/ALLM, low input lag for gaming; strong local dimming (zone count), anti-reflection, accurate color. Verify HDR formats (HDR10/HDR10+; some brands don’t support Dolby Vision).
